GIRLS’ SOCCER – Tryouts for girls’ soccer will begin tomorrow, Wednesday February 10 after school.  You must sign up before trying out and have your physical completed.  If you have not been cleared for your physical you are not allowed to try out.  If you have not signed up see Mrs. Gutierrez in room 29

HHS Has A New Swim Team Program -- We are busy getting information together to build  new Web pages for our new team!

ALL- Pictures for MORP will be in Room 42, (Mr. Vieira’s room) from 4-7 p.m., February 13th. 

FBLA- There will be an FBLA meeting today, Tuesday, February 9th, in Room 16 at 12:00 noon to discuss FBLA week events and activities. 

ALL STUDENTS PLANNING TO ATTEND M.O.R.P.:

 

(1) Only HHS students and their pre-approved guests may attend HHS dances. 

(2) Completed Guest Pass Applications with all required signatures must be submitted to the Assistant Principal by 1:00 PM on Wednesday, Feb. 10. 
 

NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED AFTER THE DEADLINE 

 

(3) All HHS students must present a valid HHS Student I.D. Card at the door, and all pre-approved guests must present a valid picture I.D. Card at the door.
 

NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.   

ALL- CSF application time is here again!  All students who have Cs or better on last semester’s grades may apply.  If you’re interested, come to room 31 for an informational meeting today, Tuesday, Feb. 9th at noon.  If you can’t attend and you want to apply, stop by to see me after the meeting is held.

ALL – MORP tickets can be purchased in Room 42, Mr. Vieira’s room, before and after school.  With ASB card $16 a couple/$8 single.  Without ASB card $20 couple/$10 single.

SENIORS- The Rotary Club of Turlock is announcing $1000 scholarships which will be awarded to high school seniors.  Applications will be considered on the basis of financial need, academic scholarship, leadership activities and community service.  See Mrs. Wickstrom for an application.  Deadline is March 15.

SENIORS- All seniors pursuing an education in an Agricultural related occupation/industry are encouraged to apply for the Eddie Miller Memorial Scholarship.  See Mrs. Wickstrom for an application.  Deadline is April 15.

SENIORS – Applications are available in the Counseling Office for the 2010 Educational Exchange college grant program, which awards college grants to 34 graduating high school seniors nationwide.  The entry deadline is March 15. 

 

SENIORS – Attention all college-bound high school Merced School Employees Federal Credit Union members.  You could receive part of $50,000 in college grants through the Education Exchange 2010, sponsored by ACCEL/EXCHANGE.  You may pick up an application at any one of their branches.  Entry deadline is March 15th. 

SENIORS- Emanuel Hospital’s Volunteer Auxiliary is announcing scholarships available to seniors who plan on pursuing a career in medical or healthcare related fields and possess a 3.0 or better GPA.  Deadline is March 15th.  See Mrs. Wickstrom for an application.

SENIORS – The Stanislaus County Legal Professionals Association is announcing a scholarship for individuals interested in pursuing an opportunity in the legal profession.  See Mrs. Wickstrom for an application.

 

SENIORS- Italo-American Lodge is offering scholarships to students of Italian ancestry that have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.  Deadline is March 15.  See Mrs. Wickstrom for an application. 

SENIORS- Applications are available in the Counseling Office for Catholic seniors for the Knights of Columbus Scholarship.  Deadline to submit an application is March 15. 

SENIORS- SENIORS can apply for MJC Scholarships until MARCH 12, 2010. Go to http://mjc.edu/highschool/getstarted/pay/scholarships/index.html for more information. 

SENIORS – Imagine-America is announcing their scholarship program which offers three $1000 scholarships available per high school to those students planning on attending a career college.  Go to www.imagine-america.org  to complete and submit application. 

SENIORS- San Joaquin Valley College is announcing the John Futrell Memorial Scholarship for those students who are planning on attending their college.  The application is available at the SJVC Modesto campus.  Deadline is March 31, 2010.

SENIORS – Seniors who have a minimum GPA of 3.0, are of Portuguese descent, or are taking or have taken Portuguese at Hilmar High School are eligible to apply for the Luso-American Scholarship.  Completed applications must be postmarked by March 1st.  See Mrs. Wickstrom for an application. 

SENIORS – Scholarships await 25 outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12 nationwide.  The Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award Program award scholarships to accomplished scholar athletes each year.  To find out more, go to www.bodybymilk.com .  Deadline is March 5. 

SENIORS- Merced County Legal Professionals Assoc. is announcing a scholarship for seniors with a 3.0 or above GPA who are seeking a profession in the legal field (i.e. legal secretary, legal assistant, court reporter).  Deadline to submit application is March 19.  See Mrs. Wickstrom for an application.

SENIORS- If you are planning to attend CSU, Stanislaus next fall, they have their own scholarship application process.  Log on to:  https://banner2.csustan.edu/STARS/.  Deadline is March 2, 2010.

SENIORS– Asian Pacific Fund is announcing 11 scholarship programs that are available on their website.  Scholarships are available for students with financial need, who demonstrate motivation and potential to succeed; are of Asian heritage or of other heritage from an under-represented group.  Go to www.asianpacificfund.org/awards/forstudents or see Mrs. Wickstrom for more information. 

SENIORS – If you hold a GPA of 2.6 or better and are interested in a transportation related career (i.e. Engineering, Communications, Accounting, Landscaping, Legal, Information Technology, Business Administration and Construction) you may apply for Caltrans’ “Transportation Scholarship”.  See Mrs. Wickstrom for more information.

SENIORS- Maximize your financial aid potential. Fill out a Cal Grant GPA Verification Form and the FAFSA.  Download the Cal Grant GPA Verification Form online from:  www.csac.ca.gov click on the “Cal Grant GPA Form” link located in the “Quick Hit” column on the right side of the page. Fill out the form and submit to Mrs. Mendes in the counseling office for processing.  She will complete the school portion of the form and return it to you for mailing.  Firm deadline is March 2, don’t delay, apply now!  Need help?  See counseling.  Machado Rocha

SENIORS- KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program is offering scholarships to students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree by entering a 2 or 4 year university.  If you have a minimum of 2.75 GPA go to www.kfcscholars.org beginning December 1st through February 10 to complete the application. 

SENIORS- Central Valley Opportunity Center is offering five scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Merced County to students who maintain a 3.0 GPA and qualify for free lunch or whose parent(s) is a farm worker.  See Mrs. Wickstrom for more information. 

SENIORS- Students who plan to major in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering and have a 3.0 or higher GPA are eligible to apply to the Stokes Educational Scholarship Program.  See Mrs. Wickstrom for more information. 

SENIORS - California Wine Grape Foundation is announcing scholarships to students whose parent(s) is a Vineyard Employee of a California Wine Grape Grower.  See Mrs. Wickstrom for more information.

SENIORS - US Bank is awarding forty $1,000 scholarships in a random drawing.   Seniors may apply online at www.usbank.com/studentloans . See Mrs. Wickstrom for more information.

SENIORS - California Association of Collectors, Inc. is awarding scholarships to seniors who submit an application and essay.  See www.cacesf.org or Mrs. Wickstrom for more information. 

SENIORS - Seniors of Hispanic heritage who are planning on going to college are encouraged to apply for the "Haz La U" scholarship.  See Mrs. Wickstrom or go to www.colgate.com/hazlau for more information.   

SENIORS- If you are interested in applying to a Christian college go to www.christianconnector.com to request information and automatically be entered in the $2,500 scholarship drawing. 

SENIORS- If your parents or grandparents are affiliated with the California licensed beverage industry you may qualify for The Christermon Foundation Scholarship Program.  Applications and details are available at www.christermon.com

SENIORS- The California-Hawaii Elks Association is awarding vocational grants to students who are planning to attend a vocational/technical school.  Applications may be downloaded at www.chea-elks.org/vocationalgrant.html
